Over the last years, education has been priority investment in Sines.

Sines schools offer cover elementary, secondary, vocational and technological levels, and an university campus. The school buildings were recently improved, specially elementary schools, under municipal management.

ETLA – Alentejo Technological School is based in Zils, since 1998. ETLA offers higher education degree in electronics, automation and instrumentation systems, electricity, analytical and industrial chemistry, data processing, health and safety (it has several agreements with Zils based companies). The school is recognized to add value to companies in Zils and former ETLA´s students often have the required specialized skills to work in installed companies.

There is also, CENFIM (Vocational Training Centre of the Metal Industry) a national protocolized centre which promotes professional guidance and improvement in the metallurgical, metallomechanical and electromechanical sectors.
